Benjamin Moore

Benjamin Moore has made a name for themselves as a quality brand.
Yes, there are some Ben Moore products for the tight budgeted party.  However, their premium lines of paint (like Aura, Regal Select, Advance) are what take this brand out of the "Big Box Store Quality" list and into the Mid-Grade list.  Even since 1883, Benjamin Moore has been known for the "ease of use" benefit to their products (which makes it hard to not like their products).

PRODUCTS BY BENJAMIN MOORE

Aura

Sheen:  Matte, Eggshell, Satin, Semi-Gloss

Product:  Aura is an easy to like product and definitely surpasses all other Ben Moore products when it comes to durability and longevity.  It is a bit of a learning curve to use because it does dry significantly faster than other products.  Once you learn the trick to using this product (or just add some extender), you're going to be pleased with its results.

Sizes: Quarts, Gallons, 5 Gallons

Aura Bath & Spa

Sheen:  Matte

Product:  Very Good paint.  Covers and applies just like the regular Aura Interior paint; however, this product has a mold and mildew resistant resin built in, making it an excellent product for bathrooms where lots of moisture builds in the air.

Sizes: Quarts, Gallons, 5 Gallons

Satin Impervo

Sheen:  Well, Satin of course

Product:  Very good oil product.  Very durable (as you could imagine from an oil product) and creates an even sheen throughout the surface.  The product isn't what it used to be (what with the VOC laws) so it doesn't level as nice as some of the oil products in our "Finest Quality Brands" list.  However, it is still a very good product.

Sizes: Quarts, Gallons,

Kitchen & Bath

Sheen: Satin

Good product.  Great if you want a definite sheen in your kitchen or bathroom yet still want the strong mold and mildew resistances.

Natura

Sheen: Flat, Eggshell, Semi-Gloss

Product:  Zero VOC paint (before and after tinting).  This product compares to Regal Select in terms of quality.  From the tests that we have done at Paint Aficionado, we can truly say that this paint has no aroma to it.  We have found that its leveling characteristics aren't quite as good as some of the other Ben Moore products (which is probably due to the lac of VOCs).

Sizes:  Quarts, Gallons, 5 Gallons

Regal Select

Sheen:  Flat, Matte, Eggshell, Pearl, Semi-Gloss

Product:  The new and improved version of the old classic.  The Regal Select series uses Ben Moore’s high quality “Gennex” colorants to make this paint which gives it a higher hide quality and thicker, smoother consistency as well.  This applies to their flat, eggshell, and pearl finishes.  The Regal Select semi-gloss is actually a little thinner than the old classic which is why some contractors still prefer the classic when it comes to semi-gloss.

Sizes:  Quarts, Gallons, 5 Gallons

Regal Classic

Flat, Matte, Eggshell, Pearl, Semi-Gloss

Product: Good paint.  Used to be Ben Moore’s best paint and the also used to be the “product to beat.”  It still maintains good quality (even though Ben Moore has developed better products) and has a fairly reasonable price point as well.  100% Acrylic, too!

Sizes:  Quarts, Gallons, 5 Gallons

Ben

Sheen:  Flat, Eggshell, Semi-Gloss

Product: This product probably stands as a good representative for the “mid-grade” product.  Anything higher quality than the Ben series is a “high-end” product.  Anything lower than the Ben series is a “lower-end” product, as far as Ben Moore goes.  Low VOC, paint and primer in one (even though that's just a marketing tool), and the best part of all is its Price.  Very fair price.

Sizes:  Pints, Quarts, Gallons, 5 Gallons

Ultra Spec 500

Sheen:  Flat, Low-Sheen, Eggshell, Semi-Gloss, Gloss

Product: Like the Ben series, it is on the lower-end scale.  However, this product is Zero VOC.  Very fair price, also.  FYI, this product's eggshell finish is more like a satin (odd that they did that!)

Sizes:  Gallons, 5 Gallons
