Big box store brands and some lower priced, yet lower quality, products.
Ace Paint, Behr, Glidden, Kilz, Olympic, Pittsburgh Paint, Pratt & Lambert, Ralph Lauren, Sherwin Williams
Most of these paint brands are sold through large national chains like the big box stores, Home Depot and Lowe's, or stores such as Sherwin Williams, Ace Paint, and Pratt & Lambert (which is owned by Sherwin Williams). Quantity sold is more prominent than the quality of paint at these retail stores.
There are many who have great experiences with these products. However, the fact is that the materials used to make paint will determine the quality of the paint (how long it lasts, how easy it is to apply, how washable it is, how durable it is, etc.). For the most part, the materials used in less expensive paints are lower in quality, which is what allows the paint to be sold for much less than their higher quality competitors. We have found that, with paint, you almost always get what you pay for.
If you're on a budget, these brands can definitely save you money and may provide the satisfaction you're looking for in a project. Yet, if you want a high quality performance, the brands displayed under the "Finest Quality Brands" and the "Mid-Grade Brands" section of this website will provide the high-end look and quality you may need and want.
